The Somerville Recreation Department announces that the Somerville Youth Football and Cheer Program (SYFC) has been invited to play for the newly formed Commonwealth Youth Football Conference (CYFC). The CYFC is affiliated with American Youth Football, which is a "Grade Based, Age Protected" youth football league. We are proud to be able to offer every child in our community an equal opportunity to play youth football and cheer. CYFC Communities include: Melrose, Medford, Charlestown, SOMERVILLE, and Stoneham. Here’s the breakdown of the leagues grade and age limits: Titan Division (Travel flag football and cheer) - Grades 1 & 2. Crusader Division: - Grades 3 & 4 - Age protected at 10. Cannot turn 11 prior to 12/31 of the given season year Spartan Division: - Grades 5 & 6 - Age protected at 12. Cannot turn 13 prior to 12/31 of the given season year Gladiator Division: - Grades 7 & 8 - Age protected at 14. Cannot turn 15 prior to 12/31 of the given season year.
School Schedule
At the return of the school year, practices will take place 2x per week through the season.
